[RC] Tevis webcast - TypeF \(Jackie Floyd\)

Well, I'm off in a few minutes for the drive up to Robie Park to enjoy visiting with riders and their horses before heading to the Auburn Dam Overlook and Net Control to do the webcast of the 53rd Annual Tevis Cup.

I have a competent staff of laptop operators at Michigan Bluff - Heidi Schiavone, Foresthill Hill - Liz Carey, Steve Anderson and Bruce Baldwin, and the Fairgrounds Stadium - fellow RideCamper D'Arcy Demianoff.

Karen Chaton will be heading the Photo and Video portion of the webcast, with her team of Tinker Hart, Sue Benson, Steve Hallmark and Julienne Rha, with some possible help from Jonni Jewel. They hope to be able to cover a goodly portion of the ride and Karen is quick to get things up on the web and does a really masterful job of organizing things. I know with her heading that department I have no worries!

I will be manning the database and updating the website from 5:00 a.m. Sat. until every last horse is accounted for Sunday morning. No rest for the wicked! The usual plan is for the radio personnel to report in every 20 minutes or 20 horses. By the time that gets to me, gets translated into something the database can read and then translated back out to the web pages, it's about 45 minutes with everything running smoothly. As the night wears on, it's easier to get the updates done quicker with less horses to report.

I will have my email on so if anyone wants to send a note and let me know how you think it's going, please feel free. However, I probably won't have time to answer you.

The website address is www.teviscup.net and you can get to the webcast by going to "The Ride" and then "Event Webcast." Or you can go directly to the webcast at http://www.foothill.net/tevis/webcast07/main.html For those of you that are "Java challenged" I hurriedly built a sitemap yesterday to replace the main menu in case you can't figure out how to get your computer to see the java drop-down menu. The link for that is right under the menu. Hopefully, I typed all the links right!
