[RC] removing a saddle horn? - sherman

An easy and pretty good looking way to cover the hole is to use a strip of leather and wrap it around the pommel. I’ve seen a few this way and they look very nice. I’ve also seen one with a square patch, an obvious alteration.

I did it myself once. There was a steel rod going straight up the middle of the horn, like 3/8" square if I remember, had to saw through with a hacksaw. After that it was just an issue of refinishing the bare spot.
