[RC] Southeast Equestrian Trails Conference--July 20-21, Knoxville, TN - Linda Marins

I havn't seen this mentioned much on Ridecamp. Therefore, just to be sure that
nobody
is missing it because they don't know about it.

THIS Friday and Saturday, July 20-21, 2007 is the:

 Southeastern Equestrian Trails Conference

It is being held at the Crown Plaza Hotel, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

To learn more, see their web page: http://www.southeasternequestriantrails.com/

You can register at the door for both days, or just one day (Friday or
Saturday).

It isn't possible to explain in one short email how important this conference
is.
Originated in 1998 by Clemson University Extension Professor of Forestry
and horseman Dr. Gene Woods, it is the premiere effort in the nation to
educate both horsemen AND federal and state land managers on issues
surrounding equestrian trails on public lands.

It is the only conference horsemen have that even approaches the sophistication
of the dozens of conferences nationally and in the southeast that are put on by
user groups who mistakenly see us as "the enemy." This includes the
Appalachian Trail Conservancy, the Tennessee Trails Association, the
Harvey Broom Chapter (Knoxville) of the Sierra Club, Tennessee Citizens
for Wilderness Planning, the Smoky Mountain Hiking Club, and on and on and on.

If you live anywhere within driving distance of Knoxville, BE THERE.
Be there, or start contemplating selling your horses and taking up marathon
running.

Oh yeah, Angie McGhee is going to be there, too, speaking on "The Lighter
Side of Trail Riding." :-)

Linda Marins
