[RC] [RC] Gaited 1/2 Arabs - Lucy TrumbullZini is out of a non-gaited arab mare by a gaited saddlebredstallion). She mostly walks/trots/canters, but will gait when excited - i.e. when most horses would jig, she gaits. The tiredest I ever saw her was when she did Square Nail 30 - her second ride, I believe, and she was so excited, she gaited almost the whole way. It was fine for me (very comfortable to ride), but we hadn't been conditioning those muscles so when we were done, all she wanted to do was lie down in the soft-sugar sand next to the trailer. I'm sure she'd gait consistently in the hands of someone who knew what they were doing, but she does fine when she wants to throw it in. We met a lady at Pt Reyes last summer who was riding an 11:2 hh welsh section A gelding. He did a nice singlefoot - she refused to let him jig so that's what he came up with.
