The scenario you outlined is, I think quite acceptable now. Anyone may join AERC and reach the criteria for entrance into the AERC Championship event citizenship or country of origin is not a stipulated criteria. It does require that enough forethought (and $s) be put into the effort to accomplish 300 miles with your mount (i.e you would need to travel to the US multiple times to do 3-6 rides within the qualification time-frame or have 1000 miles with your horse). Mr. Hasume of Japan riding his Cameo de Fayette here this year under just such circumstances. But it does preclude for example, inviting the new French Champion to come ride here. or the current Champion of New Zealand or ...
