Re: [RC] Out of state hay at Tevis? - Laney Humphrey

Getting anything from out of state through the CA Ag Inspection stations near the state lines may or may not be a problem. Just so you know, alfalfa is readily available in Auburn. In fact, one of the local feed stores sets up a booth at the fairgrounds and will bring whatever you need right to you! Because of California's huge dairy industry lots of alfalfa is grown in the state and it's very high quality. So, you might want to think about resupplying once you get here. It will save you fuel since you won't be hauling that hay weight across the country. JMHO,

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows what the California regulations are regarding bringing in out of state hay? We are coming from Maryland to do Tevis and will be bringing hay, specifically Alfafa, just wanted to make sure that it was ok. I remember when we went to Colorado a couple of years ago you had to have state regulated hay in the state park that we were camping in.....
Any and all help would be appreciated on this issue.
Thanks in advance!
