[RC] what shoes really do... - Diana Peterson

Hi everybody...just my two cents ...lol

I have attended a Pete Ramey clinic...where he told us that his wife has carriage horses and they where barefoot. He said they would grow hoof acccording to what the work load is... he said when he took them off work for a rest of a month or more...they would have to be trimmed every week because there hoofs where growing so fast and the growth would slow down when they worked less.

So that tells me that a hoof will grow according to what the workload of a horse is .

Clinton Anderson ....has only the hind hoofs of his reining horses shod , because they slide better. All his horse are trimmed by Pete Ramey or after his method. Clinton's in house apprentices have received training from Pete Ramey on how to trim the horses themselves.

My endurance horses are barefoot and i have a heck of a time to find a boot for him. He wears a size 0 EZ boot ...but i hardly put them on because every time i do he over reaches with his hind and hits the back of the front boot.
I haven't figure that on out yet. lol

Diana :-)
