http://www.clothwipers.com/p_cow_carpet.htm  Is one of the sites, I've heard of.  If it can hold up to a dairy, it will should hold up any where.

The hog fuel work well, but only lasts a year or so.  The gravel will likely
end up mixed into the clay over time.  The best solution is to use road
fabric under gravel with sand over it.
