comment the further insult, "obviously you are stuck in your ways" was
incredibly boorish and hateful.
 
 
Not to mention just plain wrong.....I have 21 horses in one pasture and two of my endurance horses in another field.  Most of these horses live on hay (forage and alfalfa) alone.  They are fat and shiny.  The ones that actually work get some senior and grain once in a while but not much.  Of course when they won the Tevis they were getting more grain and work.  Horses actually do quite well on hay alone.  We used to feed our endurance horses hay and some oats and corn at a ride and we had little trouble with ulcers and the other various ailments that seem to have cropped up in the past years.  Of course, this was back in the 70's before Barbara and I got stuck in our old ways...............mb
