[RC] Flood warnings again today [Texas Rain] - Christy Adame

We too are on the Northeast side of Dallas and have seen enough rain to drown the frogs! My neighbor had snakes swimming in his driveway. To avoid the sucking mud the horses are huddling on the dry spots in the pasture--yuck.

I'm considering conditioning/riding on the "side" of the roads around my house again. (something I haven't done in a couple of years). The county has raised the road elevation making the footing messy but "okay" which isn't great. All things considered-- it beats the alternative.

Providing I work up the guts to do this-- make it to [tiny] Westminster (with the horse) and back alive, it will be over 5 miles. If this plan fails, you may hear about us on Channel 8.

Westminster has a new "biker bar/hangout" who said they will water my horse if I ride up there...maybe I should wait until 4:30 or 5:00p to get a few margaritas before the trip back home??

Whoever is praying for rain can STOP NOW.

Christy Adame

Yes, even in South Texas, we're getting stuck in the never ending mud. I
cringe at turning out the barn horses because of how sucky it is, but the
rain WON'T STOP!

YES!!! STOP THE RAIN DANCE! Many of the N TX lake levels were between 15 and
20 feet below normal due to the drought at the beginning of 2007. It started
raining a bit, them more and more [the last week of April, I got 8" in one
day] and by May 1, the lake levels were almost back to normal. I heard that
Lake Lewisville opened its flood gates - literally - about 2 weeks ago. As
in, it's more than full. So yes, we have reversed 18 months of drought with
18 near-straight weeks of rain! :) And it keeps coming, and coming and
coming. It just has literally no where to go any more!
