[RC] - Juli Bechard

Here in Florida, the drought is still in full force.  They promised us rain yesterday, and we never saw a drop.  About 8:30pm, I stuck my nose out to walk the dogs, and noticed how nice it was, maybe 80 degree, and cooling off nicely. To top that off, it was a full moon.

My neighbors have a friend over who rides, and they were outside also admiring the weather, so I yelled across the property that we needed to go on a night ride.  They agreed, and we all saddled up and left about 9:30pm.  It was beautiful…the moon was super bright, it was cool, no bugs, and the horses really seemed to be enjoying themselves.  We only did about 7 miles, 5 of that in the woods, and the other 2 on the dirt road, but it was great.  The last two miles home we started trotting, and Alpine and their POA decided to have a trotting contest.  To give that pony credit, she can TROT!  Alpine was doing about an 8.5 mph gait, which is no where near his top speed, but still pretty quick, and that 13.1 hand pony was keeping up easily.  We had a blast. We got back in around 11.  I turned Alpine back out with some fresh hay, and trotted myself into the house for a shower and bed.

What a great evening!
