I bought a brand new one last summer ... ever so
slight drip, but the more water (weight) you put in the faster the drip ... my
"spot" for it is on dry dirt, so wasn't hard to figure out .... (Oh, the
fix was to caulk it)
But I think you'd see a 90 gallon puddle.... tee
hee
I'm hoping someone can help me solve a mystery. I have a 90 gallon
water trough for two horses and the last few days I have gone out at night to
feed and found the thing DRY. I can't figure out where the water is
going because I can't imagine that, even in this heat (95-ish), two horses
could drink 90 gallons of water in less than 12 hours!
Here are the variables:
The pump went out on the well, so I recently switched to house
water. I suspect it tastes better.
I fixed the trough with a wooden frame so that it can't get tipped
over.
I removed the hose after filling in case it was backflowing and
creating a suction.
I saw the chickens drinking out of it, but 3 chickens shouldn't be able
to hold that much water either! No other critter has access to that
trough (that I know of).
Neither horse is working hard.
All last summer I never had the thing go dry in less than 24 hrs. with
the same two horses
Everyone put your Nancy Drew cap on and please help me solve this
mystery!
