Re: [RC] [RC] Viewpoints on fuel and other controversial issues - Angie Fura

Hi Dave - I'm not sure why, but I never got your original post.  Don't worry - now that people have figured out that I'm not "the" Angie, I'm not sure so people care as much about coming to my defense ;)

I agree with you that this subject does impact endurance.  If folks are not able to attend rides due to fuel prices, it could potentially be damaging to our sport.

You and I seem to be polar opposites on this issue.  That's OK.  I don't think the world would be a very interesting place if we all thought the same.  The key is balance.  There has got to be a solution that meets the needs of both the environment and humankind.  If we (not you and me personally, but our associations, political parties etc) can engage in meaningful dialogue about solving the problem instead of arguing about who is right, we'd make a lot more progress.

We spend a lot of time talking on this site about whose approach is better and has more merit.  Just think of how many controversial subjects we talk about:  barefoot versus shoeing, FEI versus AERC, stalling at night versus 24 hour pasture, LD versus endurance.  Every side of every issue has both positives and negatives.

I guess the take-home message here is that we can learn something from each perspective.  I'm not opposed to hearing your point of view on any subject.  I'm sure I'll learn something new by hearing you out.  I hope you feel the same about me and my views.

Just for the record, my horses are shod & stalled, I support LD, but don't ride (or care for) international!  :)

Well, thank you, but I do apologize if Angie or anyone else thinks I was
attacking her personally.  But I don't apologize for my opinion.
