Re: [RC] Tree Huggers - Barbara McCrary

As a matter of interest, Lud has a cousin who was born and raised in Alaska and still lives there in her old age.  We visited her in either 1982 or 1983 and she told us the caribou and other animals loved the pipeline, because they could stay warmer during the winter by being close to it.  The oil had to be heated in order for it to pass through the pipeline in the frigid Alaska winters, and thereby giving the wildlife a nice place to hang out where they could stay warm.  I found that rather interesting...an unexpected benefit of the pipeline.

Yet, the caribou are thriving today, along with the rest of Alaska?s wildlife, which coexists with the pipeline.
