Re: [RC] Beware - overinflated corn prices! - Truman PrevattCo-ops were established many years ago to protect farmers from the ravishes of the "free market" to spread the selling of commodities over a long period. Today farmers have dryers to keep the corn for a long period. In fact one of the art of farming today is to know when to sell to get top dollar. My cousin runs our family farm and he seems to be a genius at that but he works at it.The price of corn is not going to come because of hording. It will come because of the ethanol frenzy you are now seeing. If anything come next Oct you may see a glut because of the over supply because of over planting. It will take some time for ethanol plants to get on line and it will take even longer for the auto industry to address the vehicles to use it and the stations to sell it. It only takes a year for farmers to covert to growing a lot of corn. Of course given the drought in the SE - the yields may be significantly down.
