[RC] FW: Grand Prix style racing - Joy Mahler

Actually what would really happen...is that "one hour after the

2-5am ers'.
The idea of bringing along a recovering horse or rider or training
a new
horse would take on a new level of work. Perhaps our 3-day 100's would
become more popular.

Those that did not want to race would stop competing at that style
and the
funds for the event would drop dramatically.

I could think of lots of other changes that might happen but you
get the
drift..

This brings so many applications to mind. Think of the Kentucky
Derby.
After the first three horses crossed the finish, the others could
just pull
up and walk back to the barn. Daytona 500? Time for a beer, boys.

When I used to run half-marathons, there were a couple of times
that if
someone had notified me that the race was over (I would have been
about to
the mid point) I could have happly walked off the course and gone
home.

How does that work anyway? Do the disqualified horses get a
trailer ride
back or do they get ridden back?
