[RC] Stupid Questions from a Saddle Buying Virgin - geckogal85@xxxxxxxxx

Hello,
My five year old gelding is impossible to fit. He does not fit in a semi, regular, full or arab bar. And is getting very upset about saddles in general. I cannot afford a custom saddle. I am seriously considering going treeless. I have a couple of stupid questions for those of you with treeless saddles.
Please keep in mind that I have never used one.
1. How well do they stay on? Will I have "slipping"issues
2. Are they safe or just a glorified bareback pad (like the cashel softsaddle)
3. I want a horn. Is it dependable enough if I have a bucker or runaway?
4.  Are they really that comfortable?
5. I have heard you have to buy a specific saddle pad or you will "hurt"your horse. Is this so?

If there are any other things you think I should know please feel free to tell me.
