Re: [RC] The Rack - Kathy Ramspott

Jody,
Thanks so much for asking. I am in a constant argument with an 'old timer' who believes all twh are racking horses and all have a rack. I try to explain no that is a gaited walk but they seem to think if a horse is 'gaiting' a horse is 'racking' I'm pretty confused myself but when you go to racking shows the higher a horse lifts his front legs the better the 'rack' versus a pleasure gait which is just Cadillac style smooth.

Ok Bruce, help me here.
Is there a difference in the hoof beats of the rack and singlefoot?? I understood these
to both be a 4-beat gait. And that they are different due to speed.
What is the difference then in the runwalk? I understand the foxtrot, the pace and the trot.
Jody...now confussed.

Thank you, Faustina, for that clarification of the rack.
