Hi, All!
I just got back from pre-riding part of the afternoon loop for the Run 
For The Gold ride to be held a week from Saturday and you sure don't 
want to miss this one!  The trail has been changed from previous years 
and now excludes the (endless)hot, rocky, sunny afternoon trail and 
instead has more forested trails, including my favorite that is shady, 
has good footing, green grass and water at the bottom. This trail is so 
magical that we riders have kept it hidden up to now! It cuts through 
majestic cedars, pines, and gorgeous Dogwood;  when you trot  through 
here, butterflies race you down the trail.  There are wild iris and 
other amazing wild flowers still blooming, and ferns alongside the 
trail.  On the other trails, the views are breathtaking...you can see to 
the central valley including Merced at one point, and on another section 
the trail overlooks the huge canyon where the Merced river comes out of 
Yosemite valley. 
The morning trail has been changed a bit as well, it is more trottable 
and less technical.  Lots of shade here too.  There will be water every 
five miles.  And, best of all, the late fee has been waived!
