After "snatching" the little nest off the hay bale with a plastic
storage container & lid, several yellow jackets kept coming back for a
couple of days and we thought they might have a hidden nest as
well.However, they quit coming back, hopefully, for good and neither
horses nor humans were stung. We never did find a huge bee that looked
like she could have been the queen, although there was one I thought was
larger than the rest. Maybe that was her. Anyway, thanks for all the
suggestions and I'm sure glad I didn't have to ruin any of hay.

 There is some kind of aerosal called "Freeze On" or something like
that,
