CPK stands for creatine phosphokinase, and it is an enzyme that is released when muscle cells are damaged. In horses, it is expectedly high after tying-up. In people it can be used to diagnose heart attack due to damaged muscle cells in the heart. Hope your horse recovers soon. Dr Q
