[RC] Faking Lameness - k s swigart

Horses faking lameness is real. Not common, but
it does happen. And woe to the distance rider
whose pony has learned that trick!

It seems to me, whether the horse is "faking" the lameness (i.e. doesn't
have any underlying physical condition causing it to limp) or not, that
the horse is still asking to stop.

A distance rider who has a pony that has learned the trick of faking
lameness to get out of doing distance rides is a pony that is asking not
to be a distance horse.

Whether the horse can't do it because it is truely hurt, or just doesn't
want to do it because it doesn't like it is irrelevant. You don't want
to just make the horse do it anyway. You need to find something that
either doesn't make the horse hurt, or doesn't make the horse fake being
hurt in order to get out of doing it.
