Re: [RC] race brain horse - D Trefethen

Hi. I have a horse that after 3 novice rides has
suddenly decided that if any other horse gets in front
and starts to trot or canter he tries to buck me off
and run away. Where does this come from!!!!
3 Novice rides - he knows he can do it and isn't gonna let YOU stop him!

I am practicing with one of our
older horses and rider in front
Good idea but better is to find a horsemen's group in your neighborhood that does W-A-L-K rides. Join and then go on as many as it takes to convince your pony to WALK with horses ahead, horses behind and occasionally ill-behaved horses who are acting up. Meanwhle, keep up your conditioning because his NEXT race will be a 50 where by the time he realizes it is one of those fast race-type things, he'll have gone about 15-20 miles and be thinking it's time to stop... <evil grin>.
