RE: [RC] [RC] Cavallo, Renegade, Marquis Boots - Ranelle Rubin

Donna,

Frist, I have not used any boots except an occasional easyboot on the trail when a shoe is lost.

However, I worked Horse Expo for Australian Connection this weekend and listened to alot of reps talk:

The Cavallo rep was in our booth and we were selling them like crazy. They are a boot intended to replace a shoe, and a similar in size to the Old Mac..so rather bulky IMO for endurance. I do know Janet Pucci with Australian Connection will be testing them out though..so stay tuned.

The Marquis boot looks very interesting to me for a couple reasons. First, they are made in Germany and appear to be the best made I have seen. There are three features I particularly like. The bottom of the boot (the part that wears) is replaceable, and comes in different treads for different uses or when the tread wears out. They even have one with a shoe attached that the rep said was for cutting horses to slide on. Second is the "bladder" that inflates around the back of the pastern to customize the fit. The "inflater" is a small tool like a mini bicycle pump about the size of a small flashlight..very light so no biggie to carry on your saddle. Third, are the slots that allow water to drain out of them. They are VERY expensive, but not disposable like some others. One more feature I just remembered is the front "hinges" open so it is very easy to get on! I cannot remember the price, but I was shocked, I remember that.

The Renegade looks interesting as well. I met someone at a ride who uses them on all his horses for endurance and likes them alot. They appear to have minimal coronet band contact, which I like. They toes on his back boots were, however worn out and showing the hoof. I don't know how long he had worn them though..

Hope this little bit of info helps.

Hello-

I am currently thinking into going barefoot and using either Cavallo,
Renegade or Marquis boots. Can anyone provide me with feedback on their
experiences with any or all of the boots.

Thanks,

Donna
