[RC] Fort Schellbourne, Day 3 Photos - Karen

Here are photos from today's ride, the third day: http://xprides.com/Schellbourne_Photo_album/Schellbourne_Day3.html

I'm uploading the first two days of photos now. They are more like 'ordinary' rides though, so not all that interesting. :-) Today was a great day. We got to ride in snow and it was just gorgeous! It was a pretty tough day with lots of climbing, then of course the snow storm and winds made it more of a challenge. So we rode up and down mountains in either snow, or mud.

I think I probably had one of the best rides I've ever had in my life (which is saying a LOT). Chief was so awesome. I wouldn't have wanted to have been out there on an inexperienced horse that is for sure! I'll post some video I took of us going through the snow and mud in various sections later. It was so fantastic to just cover my face with my hands or arm, drop the reins, lean sideways and let Chief get us where we needed to go, even if we were being blown sideways in a whiteout.

Nothing Adventured, Nothing Attained. (great quote!) We did an enormous amount of both today. This is why I do this. I do need to stop smiling so much, as in such adverse conditions it causes ones gums to freeze.

I'll start uploading days 1 and 2, and also some of the video into my blog: http://easycareinc.typepad.com/karen/ So check later, it'll take awhile as I took a lot of photos. Way cool, I also have had Bares foamed (no gaiters) onto all four of Chief's feet and they stayed on. I am impressed. He is so Mr. All-terrain-vehicle - just motors through everything and never slips. Glad to be on him today, the new guy really still has so much to learn still. Won't he have an adventure tomorrow. Then Chief will get to hopefully do the Ranger Trail (if there isn't too much snow) on the last day. I love that day of the ride, and the weather is going to clear, yay!

Looking forward to the 4th day tomorrow!

K
