[RC] [RC] rude riders and rules - Carla Richardson

Flora,

I think you're absolutely correct.  RM's should be supported by AERC.  Without rides, what the heck is AERC?  It's horrible that this issue is even a topic, but it could easily continue to be a problem and even a bigger problem.

NATRC requires a Rules Interpreter at ctr's.  If there is a dispute, the Rules Interpreter is consulted and makes a decision, based on the rule book.  In the a case of a "rude" or dangerous rider, they could be DQ'd very easily, with the RM backed up by the RI.

Seems to me AERC could do the same thing.  Oh, and Rules Interpreters are not paid, they're volunteers.  Good ideas you posted, hopefully someone will listen...

When the RM holds an AERC sanctioned ride, they ARE part of the AERC -- even if for that day -- in that they are committed to both uphold and enforce the AERC rules and regulations  as part of their ride sanctioning. If the AERC mandates a Ride Steward to handle rider complaints, comments and concern,
and to act as the AERC representative in helping the RM uphold AERC regulations, then it is a vastly worthwhile service to the riders, to the management, and to everyone who is there, spectators included.
