RE: [RC] Ride stewards - Kristen A Fisher

I like the idea of this very much as well. Perhaps there could be an on-line
handbook and test for AERC steward certification like there is for certified
vets now?

In terms of payment, I don't think the expense of an AHA steward would be
justified [they are typically paid $100-$150 per day plus expenses, but are
certified by USEF and have a legal liability for their performance as
steward]. I would think that some stewards would be willing to volunteer
just as they would for any other position like P&R, etc. If the RMs wanted
to reward the steward they could offer them a ride entry or something. I
would probably be willing to participate in this program if it were
developed and if the stewards did not have a legal liability.

Flora brings up a number of good points in her discussion of
using ride stewards at AERC rides.

I know it's been considered before but I've asked the ride
managers and competitions committees to consider it again.

The GSFHR will have a ride steward (Robert Morris) at their
request and expense in September.
