RE: [RC] sharing a ride - Kristen A Fisher

I just did this math for someone else. If you have someone haul for you [commercially] you will pay at least .50/mile. For a 500 mile [one way trip] here's the math:

1000 miles / 15 mpg = 66.67 gals x $3/gal = $200 gas costs
1/2 of that is $100, 2/3 of that is $133.

1000 miles x .50/mile = $500.

I think 2/3 is more than fair.

Subject: [RC] sharing a ride

I’m sharing a ride with a junior to her first NATRC ride this w/e. I had been trying to figure out how to split up the gas. I just put $1000 into the truck and the “new” to me trailer that I bought. I got a new brake controller as the old one seemed inconsistent, added heavier springs and had the rear bearings redone. I still have to go in to have the upper ball joints in front done in the next month. I had planned to just do a 50/50 split on gas, but I’m not so sure that a 2/3-1/3 isn’t better…Of course, I told them I”d split it so I guess I have to be fair…and they did get me some swell cheap season passes for Six flags…
