Re: [RC] [RC] tricks to entice eating - Maryben Stover

There are some very famous Hall of Fame and Tevis winners who ate nothing but alfalfa their whole lives and lived to tell about it..........mb

Best trick would be to feed her the alfalfa (:>)! IMHO, this cold snap is not a good time to risk your horse's health. Even Arabs can eat straight alfalfa in very cold weather without problems. Right, Heidi?

p.s. I removed over an inch thick sheet of ice from 3 water troughs this morning, had to do it again this afternoon. We're having a cold snap here in NorCal as well.

The only reason why I'm doing it now is because we Southern Californians are going through a really nasty cold snap (record breaking lows) and I can't just let her starve until she gets so hungry she breaks down and begins to eat. If this were a normal So Cal winter or a different season I'd let her go hungry, but I don't need or want her to get sick.
