I do think that this discussion has raised some other excellent
points--for instance, the proposal could be modified so that only the heart
rate needs to be down to the ride criterion within 30 minutes, still allowing
an hour for the remainder of the exam. The concept of some sort of an
exit check before the horse can leave the venue has also been brought up--an
excellent suggestion (also one fraught with more work for vets and management,
but likely well worth it in terms of horse welfare).
