Re: [RC] Barbaro - Lysane Cree

With all of the discussion being stirred up about Barbaro, I was interested to see an article in Ladies' Home Journal on Barbaro and his owner

Obviously having the money to pay is a primary issue in anyone's decision to save their horse when it involves such a lengthy hospital stay and extensive treatment. I certainly couldn't afford it, but if they can, great.  Aside from that. the owner obviously loves her horse too. She is described as being an animal lover all of her life and having had horses for most of it. She lives just down the road from the hospital and visits him every day and says "We were going to try everything we could to get that horse back to living a decent life. That's really the only way when you love animals...I think Barbaro has taught all of us something about our responsibility to our animals. I just think we're lucky to have him. He's America's horse now."

No one can decide what a decent life is except the owner and the medical team.
