Sandy, I believe it has the ability to lock
onto more satellites. There is also a way to boost the antenna of the 301,
which is what I am considering doing. This is in lieu of buying a new
one. Check out Roger Rittenhouse's website, he prefers the 301 with
the antenna boost. There is also a lady named April on R/C that has a
lot of info on both models. She prefers the 305.
