Re: [RC] don't buy gas - kramspott

I like the idea in theory, sending a message and all, but if folks forget until the last minute then the next day there will be longer lines at the pump first thing in the morning which is the worse time to fuel up (so they say) and the idling cars waiting for a pump will be wasting gas.

I am going to do it. It isn't like it would harm anything.

Well, it definitely wont work if everyone thinks its a joke. I say we give it a try. It has worked in the past. It might help...why not try?

It'll never happen in California.  This state is so tied up, handcuffed and shackled by environmental restrictions that we can barely move.  Using resources is fine, as long as it comes from somewhere else where folks don't have to see it.

Thanx, for the common sense, Jonni.  A ?gas out? is a joke.  Won?t work.  The fact is, the petroleum market is a classic supply and demand issue.  Worldwide petroleum demand is up (see good U.S. economy and the China/India economic explosion) and the world supply is down due to governmental restrictions on construction of new refineries (none in California for four decades).  If people really want to see the price at the pump fall, they would be a lot more effective if they demanded from their state and federal legislatures new law that would remove the regulatory bottlenecks on new refinery construction and the opening of domestic oil fields for production in Alaska and off the West Coast.  Until we belly up to the bar on this, we will continue to see the price of filling up our cars and trucks climb.  This already is affecting our sport.

Snopes kind of sums this up well. I look at these e-mails as junk mail....
