When I was in college, we studied horse color, and the professor told us 
that because of all the many genes involved in color, there were about 
147000 possible gene combinations.  However, I went to school 10 years ago, 
so I can't remember the exact number he quoted, however, it was in the mid 
hundred thousand ballpark.   Perhaps some else has an more accurate figure, 
but anyway, the point is, there can be quite a variation, as your beautiful 
horse shows.
