What the heck has doing a 10:40 race over over a flat fast course on a
cool day got to do with preparing someone to do a slow, hot, humid ride
safely?

As I said, I don't agree with the shortened COC either. I also said it would have been more effective to require the horses to qualify at a hot/humid ride, regardless of speed, rather than a fast ride in different climatic conditions. We agree on this!

However, I can see their thinking. Any horse fit enough to satisfy the requirements of this COC will probably be fit enough to SURVIVE the ride in Malaysia if ridden slower--and that is probably their primary concern. How to keep unfit (for these conditions) horses from showing up and crashing on course.
