The "Easy Up" buckles are available. I think they were 10.00 a buckle. Got them directly from Easycare. The new buckle doesn't use cotter pins. I really like mine so far. 

So you can buy the buckles separately and fit them to
EZ boots where the buckle is attached with screws?

The boots I saw at the convention were slightly different
in the front - the upsidedown buckle sort of recessed
into the boot - there was a lip around the edge.
