Subject: [RC] Reason for shoeing-Allisa Norman

Something that may have happened was I was making the boots very very tight. Maybe I was making them a little too tight? Or maybe something came out that wasn't showing with him being shod continuously?

Question for easyboot users - have you ever put an easyboot on too tight?  I didn't think that was possible, but last year my gelding threw a shoe in an LD.  I put an easboot on him immediately (the boot fits him well), but he was head bobbing lame.  I got off and walked him back to camp.  On the walk back he got progressively lamer and then stopped and held his foot up.  I loosened the easyboot and that took care of most of the problem.  He was still off a little, but no where near as lame as he had just been.  He was fine the next day.  I gave him a week off anyway.  I use my easyboots often because he almost always pulls a shoe at 5 or 6 weeks (he alternates which foot he pulls the shoe from), and I have not had problems with the easy boots before or since.
