Re: [RC] EMERGENCY, PLEASE HELP!!!! (USrider Roadside Service) - Laney Humphrey

In my experience, USRider is interested in feedback from members about their concerns. A call to the company yielded this very useful suggestion: put the emergency # in your cell phone! Of course, my cell phone is often in my purse, which once was locked in my car by my dog. The service rep also suggested giving a trusted & available friend or family member the USRider # so in an emergency you could get it from them.
I was surprised to learn that USRider's coverage goes with the person, not the vehicle, which means that if someone, say a crewmember, is moving your rig for you and gets in trouble, USRider won't come. I am urging the company to have short-term memberships for non-family members so that crew could be covered for the length of a specific event rather than for an entire year.

And this, folks, is why I called and complained to them when someone locked my
wallet into my truck 4 years ago. Who on earth would imagine that the number
wouldn't be on the window sticker? I assumed it was there, and it wasn't. I
went to my friend's house and visited their website, and it wasn't there
either. It was late on a Sunday night so there was nobody answering their
sales phone number.

I did NOT have the money for a locksmith so my friend's husband got into the
truck by prying open the back window. He broke the latch doing it. Later when
I called USRider to complain about the number not being on the window sticker,
they told me I should have KNOWN to call the locksmith and then submit the bill
to USRider for reimbursement. They would not, however, reimburse me for the
broken latch.

The reason they gave for the phone number only being on the membership card is
that they didn't want anyone who was not a member to call for assistance. That
is the dumbest reason I've ever heard of! They already ask for a membership
number when you call, and if you don't know it they verify who you are using
other information.

I still have a membership, but now the number is written on a sticky note and
stuck to my window under the USRider sticker.

Maybe if we band together we could make them change this STUPID practice.
