Parts of Texas are similar to FL with high heat, water - perfect conditions for the spread of EIA. In FL you can not put your horse in a trailer and drive off your property without a current Coggins. If you ride your horse off your property you need to have a current Coggins. If Texas is the same as FL even if the person bought the horse it could not be moved off of the property without a Coggins.

In fact in FL if you are riding your horse on state owned land you have to have your Coggins on your person and they do check.
