Without the spare it would have broken years ago. The cage breaks to easy They must have changed the material the cages were made of. My first ones broke very quickly and in several places. When I got those cages replaced the 2nd set never broke and has been through everything. They're pretty old. Looks like they'll last as long as the stirrups do. I think we need to realize when our stuff does finally wear out that we're not the easiest customers to serve. Before I did endurance I *never* wore through a buckle. Now I'm looking at the brass rings my breastcollar attaches to and wondering what I'll do when it wears completely through. The flaps on my saddle have holes worn through them. The stirrup sides are sharp, some of my snaps have worn through. If you ride as much as we do things *will* wear out or break occasionally.
