Re: [RC] [RC] EZ ride strrups, deathtraps? - Terry Banister

Did you ever see the square stirrups on Paruvian Passo / Passo Fino saddles? They are just as big.

I have the Cloud stirrups for the past 8-9 years and they are quite similar in style as the Easy Ride Stirrups. No death trap problems here :) I don`t have the cage on them but I always wear a paddock-type boot with a heel or running shoes that have those shaped bottoms so its kind of like a heel. The times I have come off, my feet coming out of the stirrups were never an issue.
I have had comments too from people who are not in endurance or CTR that they are big and bulky and funny looking. Only time I ever got my foot stuck was in a stirrup on a western saddle, so there! :) And after my feet went numb and my shins hurt from riding in regular English iron stirrups, I got the Clouds and never looked back. Guess you have to ride the miles to appreciate them :)

There was someone on a BB that I frequent that was getting rid of her ez
ride style stirrups. I asked why. I mean, I lusted for a pair of them for
months - and I love them now that I have them, why would anyone that has
some want to get rid of them? This is the response I got. I guess I never
thought of them this way?

I wondered how all of you feel about them since the bulk of these stirrup
users seem to be endurance riders.

BTW - this is from a gaited horse discussion so putting weight in stirrups
in order to post is not a consideration. ;-)

"Mel..to me they are way to big & bulky..I don't like them at all.. why would you need padded, big bulky stirrups when stirrups are for getting off & on and NOT for putting weight on...

For me...they are dangerous foot-lockers!"
