Re: [RC] Hi-Tie attachment - geckogal85@xxxxxxxxx

The hitie will not damage your trailer unless your horses are really bad at being tied. I think they put that about the support beams to cover their butts. Mine are not on a beam and my horses tie fine, and there have never been any issues.

I just purchased two hi-ties to install on my trailer. On a small paper in the box, there is a warning that the hi tie must be installed on a support that is at least 2.5" wide and that the support must not be narrower than the hi-tie atttachment which is 2" wide because damage could result to the trailer.
Of course, I didn't see that written anywhere in the info I read before I purchased them or I would have checked first.
I have a 2 horse Sundowner - steel frame/aluminum sides. My supports are 2" and the hi-tie attachment (the steel plate that bolts to the trailer) is 2".
I'm thinking that since it is not narrower I am fine. But anyone else run into this dilemma? What are your experiences with this? Obviously I don't want to damage my trailer...
