[RC] Unsolicited Advice (was: Judgement Call) - k s swigart

Mike Lewis said:

Very interested in other folks' thoughts, though,....

Thanks for any thoughts...

And then Bruce Weary said:

My unsolicited advice would be .....

Ummmmm, Bruce (and everybody else), any advice being given here on this
question is NOT "unsolicited."

The guy ASKED for advice.

I mention this (and changed the subject line for a specific reason, as I
am not commenting on the quality of any of the advice given), because I
see this as a common misconception that plays itself often here on
Ridecamp.

Almost all of the advice given here on Ridecamp is in response to
somebody asking for it. And often this advice leads to other people
saying "Well....who asked you?"

It is, in fact, such a common occurence here, that Bruce Weary felt the
need to apologize for offering advice by qualifying it as "unsolicited"
when clearly, it was not.

There is no reason to apologize for giving advice when it is asked
for...even if you suspect that the person receiving it won't like it.
