[RC] horse that limits portions on her own. - Mel Cochran

My mare never eats all of her feed. She will eat part of it, stop and move on to her hay. The other horses will finish her portion. She also does this at rides. She has been doing this for a long time so it is not because of sickness or anything like that. I have not cut back on the amount that I put in her feed pan because I keep thinking one day she might want all of it.

I guess she just prefers hay over her feed? I have tried a variety of feeds, beet pulp based pellets, safe choice, textured, etc. She does the same thing with any of them. She is my picky eater. She does not like apples, carrots or anything else that is typical for horsey treats. The only treat she will accept is Dumor horse cookies from TSC.

Have any of you experienced anythink like this?
