RE: [RC] Proposed rule changes - heidi

Sorry, Erick, but no, that is not the critical question.  Horses can easily suffer metabolic damage without requiring treatment at a given ride.  The critical question is whether there are horses that are overridden to the point that their pulses hang, and whether those horses are slow to recover their overall health post-ride, or gradually develop adrenal problems due to the repeated overriding, or show other life-altering changes.  And the answer to that question is YES, those things happen to horses that are repeatedly ridden to the edge and who demonstrate that problem by having their pulses hang.  I personally know of at least two who have DIED post-season due to such chronic complications.  I don't believe either one was ever treated at a ride, but I feel strongly that preventing such an outcome is in the best interests both of the horses and of the sport.

BUT NO ONE ANSWERED THE
CRITICAL QUESTION:

Has there been a set of horses that would not
have pulsed in at 30 min AND did
pulse in at 60 min AND subsequently required
treatment?
