I'd rather die quickly from a blow to the head after falling off a 
horse than slowly of illness or general decrepidness.  That said, I 
realize not everyone who hits the ground head first dies 
quickly.  Nevertheless, I'm a stubborn person and I don't wear a helmet.

For all the great stories I've read about lives being saved by 
wearing helmets, I have to point out that much of what passes for 
civilization these days came about through a lot of horse riding, and 
if so many people really died from falling off and hitting their 
heads, I'd have to wonder how our ancestors survived to get us to the 
age of motorized vehicles.  Hey, it's just one person's opinion, OK?
