Lack of calcium is the issue, not lack of dairy products.  There are lots or reasons that people don't eat dairy, ulcers and acid reflux are one, which is my issue.  You can get enough calcium from leafy green vegetables (spinach, some lettuces, broccoli, collard and mustard greens), dried fruit and nuts, and tofu, among other foods.  Dairy calcium is just easier for the body to use.
