I've got the same problem right now. What kind of girth do you use

instead of the string? Neoprene? Woolback?<<<

The current horse is doing fine in Neoprene, and even did Tevis with it.
But, the previous horse had reactions to Neoprene, and did very well in
leather. More care on our part, but I have never had trouble with a GOOD
leather cinch or girth on any of the horses.

I love a leather girth, but our fine sand mixed with lime stone dust and the salt in horse's sweat just chew them up when I use one. That's even with cleaning them after every ride. Sigh I wish I could get away with leather but I tried for two years and it didn't work out.
