Re: [RC] Your Help Needed to Keep Trails Plan Intact - Steven Proe

Hi: This proposed action is against the laws of CA. The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), prescribes that the loss of anything of substantial value either money or things that may impact the environment including " trails " they Must comply with (CEQA) and other laws .

Hope this Helps

In a recent meeting of the Trails Advisory Committtee, Jan Delio of County Parks commented that she has only heard from Dorothy Jennings and Kathe Hustace re trails, especially in North County, SLO.  There are a large number of proposed trails which County Parks is willing to eliminate from the proposed Trail Plan due to opposition from agriculture, notably the Farm Bureau and the Cattlemen's Association.  These folks do not seem to realize the changing demography of SLO County and that the future of agriculture really relies on attracting the public, ie wineries, farm stays, rural vegetable stands and farms, to their farms and ranches.  Many plans that have been produced to sustain agriculture in highly developed counties call for agricultural groups to promote trails.  Its just a very new concept in our area.

If you truly support trails, plea! se take a few minutes and email Jan Dileo at jdileo@xxxxxxxxxxxx  and let her know that there are individuals and please mention the group that you represent if you are speaking for a number of people, that support her and trails in San Luis Obispo County!!!  Please forward to other trail folks that you know and we really need to get more individuals involved in NCTA and trails!  Thanks a bunch!

Kathe Hustace,
President, North County Trails Association

Above is a letter received from a local trails group (San Luis Obispo County, California) trying to promote and protect trails as the area is being developed hand over fist. Please take the time to respond to the e-mail address included and express your support for trails (especially connecting trails) throughout Californ! ia. Trails are often piecemeal until they all come together and then you have some distance for riding enjoyment. Many years have gone into dreaming and planning. Please help us not to lose them, now.
