Re: [RC] [RC]LD Issue - Don Huston

Hello Sarah,
I ride slow 50's most days and a lot of LDer's catch me and I often ride with some of them into lunch. I ride the now infamous PS + West regions but have never witnessed any snobby treatment of LDer's (I'm blind & deaf). I'm sure it happens because we are not perfect but if it happens to you just chalk it up to that person having a "jerkweed" (great word there Bruce) day. The vast majority of endurance folks very much appreciate LD riders, use LD rides themselves when needed and help other riders regardless of their status. The fresh enthusiasm of LDer's like yourself is a bit like being around a new puppy, all bouncy and into everything. Personally I love to see it and it helps me regain my enthusiasm. Don't quit and you will learn to "endure" the ride, the weather, the long drive, and sometimes the insufferable rider. BTW, the occasional insufferable rider can be anybody else but never me or you, right?

I hope this makes sense as to what I'm saying. That I think LD's are important. I dont care if you treat me like I'm a newbie.. Heck I am, but if you treat me Like I'm stupid, and riding a ride thats nothing, Im not going to stay in the sport, but if you treat me with respect and help me and let me know I rode a good ride or could have changed some things but still am part of the endurance world, I'm gonna stay and move up and hopefully one day be a seasoned rider helping out a LD person and remember where I have been and how I got there.

PS, Got any training tips for a newbie.. LOL
